IBIT Pulls $110M as Altcoin ETFs Bleed Out

BlackRock's IBIT captured all $110M in Monday's Bitcoin ETF inflows while Ethereum, Solana, and XRP ETFs shed a combined $100M. Fed meeting looms.

October 27, 2026

Key Points

  • BlackRock's IBIT captured every dollar of Monday's $110.34M in Bitcoin ETF inflows, while Ethereum, Solana, and XRP ETFs collectively shed $100.42M on the same session.
  • Bitcoin dropping below $80,000 and a two-day, $774M withdrawal streak heading into the Fed's October 27–28 meeting are suppressing broad crypto ETF demand, funneling the few committed buyers into the most liquid, institutional-grade product available.
  • Watch the Fed statement Wednesday for any hawkish pivot that could extend Bitcoin's sub-$80K range and push October's already-negative $202M net outflow figure deeper into the red.

Monday's crypto ETF session was a study in concentration: $110.34 million flowed into spot Bitcoin ETFs, every cent of it into BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, while the rest of the crypto ETF complex — Ethereum, Solana, XRP — hemorrhaged a combined $100.42 million. Net across all four categories: a barely-alive $9.92 million positive. That is not a rebound. That is a flight to the only name institutional money still trusts when Bitcoin slides below $80,000 and the Fed is 24 hours from a rate decision.

The Narrowing of Crypto ETF Conviction

The concentration in IBIT is the real story. Every other Bitcoin spot ETF — Fidelity's FBTC, Ark's ARKB, Invesco's BTCO — posted zero net flows on October 26. Not modest inflows, not small outflows. Zero. That is an extraordinary signal about where institutional positioning lives in a risk-off crypto environment. When sentiment sours, advisors and fund managers are not rotating across Bitcoin ETF products; they are collapsing into one name. IBIT's gravitational pull in stressed sessions has now become a pattern, and Monday reinforced it decisively.
The broader October context makes the "rebound" narrative almost impossible to sustain. The $110.34M single-session inflow looks meaningful until you set it against the $774 million that exited spot Bitcoin ETFs over just the two prior trading sessions, and the approximately $202 million in net outflows that October has accumulated through Monday. The cumulative net inflow figure since the January 2024 launch sits at roughly $57.6 billion — a number that sounds robust until you consider how much of that was built in Q1 2024 and how much current momentum has deteriorated. Month-to-date, this is a net-losing October for Bitcoin ETFs as an asset class.

Altcoin ETFs Under Structural Pressure

Ethereum spot ETFs recorded $88.58 million in net outflows on October 26 — by far the largest single-category drain in Monday's session. Cumulative net inflows for Ethereum ETFs stand at $12.63 billion, with total net assets of $14.07 billion and daily trading volume of $506.23 million. The gap between cumulative inflows and net assets reflects market depreciation eating into the base — a quiet but persistent drag that discourages new allocations. At current ETH prices and sentiment, the Ethereum ETF complex is treading water at best.
Solana ETFs are in worse shape. The products have failed to post a single day of net inflows for the entire month of October — a streak that speaks to the difficulty of building institutional demand for a third-tier crypto ETF category during a broad digital asset pullback. Monday's $8.23 million outflow was led by Bitwise at $7.22 million, followed by Grayscale's $1.83 million exit. The one exception: Morgan Stanley logged $817.71K in inflows, a data point that deserves attention. If any name is going to anchor Solana ETF demand at institutional scale, it is likely to be a wirehouse or bank-affiliated platform with access to high-net-worth advisory accounts — not retail. Whether Morgan Stanley's counter-trend positioning is a contrarian entry or a timing anomaly becomes clearer if the inflow recurs.
XRP ETFs recorded their fourth outflow of October, shedding $3.61 million Monday — again led by Bitwise. The cumulative net inflow figure of $1.80 billion against net assets of just $1.47 billion tells a pointed story: the market has depreciated below the cost basis of XRP ETF buyers as a group. At 1.80% of XRP's total market cap, the ETF penetration is thin, and outflows at this scale, while small in absolute terms, carry an outsized psychological weight. Investors who came in near the launch are underwater on the position, and the bid to hold is weakening.

What the Fed Does to This Trade

The Federal Reserve's October 27–28 meeting is the variable that either stabilizes or accelerates everything described above. Bitcoin's breach of $80,000 on Monday was not incidental — it tracked directly with pre-meeting risk reduction across speculative assets. The question is not whether the Fed cuts or holds; it is what language surrounds the decision. Any signal that rates remain restrictive into 2027, or that the committee is less confident about disinflation progress, hits Bitcoin and crypto ETFs through two channels simultaneously: it strengthens the dollar and raises the opportunity cost of holding zero-yield digital assets, and it reduces risk appetite among the marginal institutional buyer who drives ETF flow data.
The IBIT concentration trade is a bet that institutional demand for Bitcoin exposure does not evaporate — it just consolidates. That thesis has held every time sentiment has cracked in 2025 and 2026. But it is a thesis that requires Bitcoin to recover above $80,000 with some conviction, not merely drift. A prolonged stay below $80K through the rest of October would almost certainly push the month's cumulative net outflow figure past $300 million and call into question the durability of the $57.6 billion inflow stack built since January 2024.
The specific level to watch on Wednesday: if Bitcoin closes above $82,500 following the Fed statement, expect IBIT inflows to accelerate Thursday and Friday as sidelined capital re-enters through the path of least resistance. If Bitcoin holds below $80,000 post-Fed, the altcoin ETF outflow pace — currently running at roughly $33 million per day across Ethereum, Solana, and XRP combined — is unlikely to slow before month-end. October 31 settlement is the hard date: anything that does not reverse by Thursday's close locks in a deeply negative month for the asset class.
